2011 proved to be yet another great year for Norwegian literature abroad
NORLA is pleased to announce that 2011 saw a substantial increase in the number of applications for translation subsidies. We received a total of 398 applications, out of which 383 were granted support for the translation of Norwegian books into 42 different languages.
This surpasses last year’s all-time-high of 349 applications (329 of these were granted subsidies for the translation of Norwegian books into 45 different languages).
This year’s supported projects include 299 fiction titles and 84 nonfiction titles. And in total 76 books for children and young adults. NORLA has granted subsidies for the translation of 51 books into other Nordic languages.
