Production subsidies for illustrated Norwegian books
NORLA has two schemes offering production subsidies for illustrated books.
The publisher must simultaneously apply for a translation subsidy from NORLA.
Important information:
NORLA’s old online application is no longer in use. As of January 16, NORLA will be using a new application platform: Norwegian Arts Abroad Application Portal for submitting and managing applications, payment requests and reports. The platform has been developed in e-Apply by Solea for the entire Norwegian Arts Abroad network*, of which NORLA is a part. Login is required.
PRODUCTION SUBSIDY FOR PUBLICATION OF ILLUSTRATED FICTION
Foreign publishers, including publishers in the Nordic region, wishing to publish fiction picture books/illustrated novels/graphic novels by Norwegian authors and illustrators may apply for production subsidies. The publication must uphold the same production standard as the Norwegian publication.
The publisher must simultaneously apply for a translation subsidy from NORLA.
It is possible to apply for a production subsidy from NORLA for up to NOK 18,000.

Foreign publishers, including publishers in the Nordic region, can apply for production subsidies for the publication of Norwegian non-fiction books containing a large number of illustrations or with exceptionally demanding technical production requirements. The publication must uphold the same production standard as the Norwegian publication.
The publisher must simultaneously apply for a translation subsidy from NORLA.
It is possible to apply for a production subsidy from NORLA for up to NOK 20,000.
