Travel grants for translators, agents, publishers and the press in other countries

The scheme is normally for travelling to Norway, however grants for travel in other countries to events focusing on Norwegian literature can also be applied for.
Who can apply:
Translators, publishers, journalists.
What can the grant be used for?
Travel to Norway and in some cases travel abroad to events focusing on Norwegian literature. The grant will normally only cover airfare (economy class).
Application deadlines:
The 1st of each month.
Applications must be submitted at least one month before the event is to take place.
All applications are processed in monthly meetings.
How to apply:
Applications must be submitted to NORLA via firmapost@norla.no.
Annual budget:
150,000 Norwegian kroner (NOK).
Processing of applications:
Grants are paid in full to the applicant in Norwegian kroner (NOK).
If the amount has been transferred and the project however does not take place, the recipient of the grant is obliged to immediately notify NORLA and return the amount received in full. If the awarded grant has been only partly used, the surplus amount must be returned. The recipient of the grant must disclose this in their report.
The grant recipient (not NORLA) is responsible for ordering tickets for participants, and NORLA does not require receipts.
The decision about the grant is made by NORLA’s expert committee, whose members are Andrine Pollen, Oliver Møystad and Tanja Feodoritova. When necessary, the expert committee can obtain external expertise.
Reporting:
The applicant is obliged to submit a report no later than two months after the activity ends. A report template can be downloaded below.
Applications can be rejected if reports from previously granted subsidies have not been received within the deadline.
In conjunction with large-scale projects, translators who translate directly from Norwegian can also apply to stay at the Translators Hotel, read more by clicking here.
