Meet author, entrepreneur and adventurer Odd Harald Hauge at the Mountain Echoes-festival in Bhutan, August 26.
He takes part in two different events, and will be presenting his crime fiction novel Everest as well as giving a lecture on internet journalism.
Foreign rights to Haugen’s book Everest were recently sold to the Indian publisher Yatra Books, who will publish the book in Bengali, English, Hindi and Marathi.

Award-winning author and illustrator Stian Hole takes part in a Chinese Culture Exchange Seminar in Beijing, arranged by China Culture Translation Study and Support, CCTSS.
The event aims at enhancing cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world. Approx. 70 authors, translator and critics are attending the seminar.
The programme offers discussions on translation, roundtable sessions, intoduction to Chinese literature and visits to several literary institutions like publishing houses, libraries, the Beijing International Book Fair and Amazon China.
CCTSS, an affiliate of the Minister of Culture of China, is non-profit online & offline service platform aiming at on pushing dynamics of global important cultural exchange, translation and researches, organizing online/offline academic group activities, releasing special project resources and information in respects of literature, films and publishing, etc

NORLA administrates the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ scheme for travel grants for authors and lecturers who will visit institutions of higher learning abroad where instruction is given in the Norwegian language.
The visits of lecturers and authors from Norway are intended to serve as a valuable and inspiring supplement to ordinary instruction.
NORLA has taken over responsibility for administration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ scheme for financial support for author/lecturer visits to institutions of higher learning abroad.

This year NORLA will attend the Seoul International Book Fair for the first time. Arne & Carlos’ knitting books have taken South Korea by storm and there are great expectations surrounding the authors’ visit this year.

June 1 is the application deadline for translators of Norwegian literature regarding stays at NORLA’s Translators hotel autumn 2016 (weeks 36-37, i.e. as of Monday September 5 through Sunday September 18).
Please note that the offer is only available for translators who translate directly from Norwegian.

We are looking forward to the Norwegian Festival of Literature, Sigrid Undset-dagene in Lillehammer, where for the first time NORLA will hold a translators seminar dedicated to a single book currently being translated into many languages.
Eight translators, all of whom are working on Morten Strøksnes’ Havboka (“Shark Drunk”), will meet to discuss the book and the challenges they have experienced with the text. They will also have the chance to meet the author.
We are looking forward to a seminar that will be extremely beneficial for the translators’ ongoing work on the book!

Also this year NORLA is providing travel grants for authors taking part in the Norwegian-American literature festival in New York, 19-21 May.
The festival is a result of a cooperation between founder Frode Saugestad, The Paris Review and The Norwegian Consulate General in New York.
This year no less than nine Norwegian authors will be attending:
Geir Gulliksen (for his latest novel, please click here), Cathrine Knudsen, Kristine Næss, Arne Lygre, Ari Behn, Johan Harstad, Maja Lunde, Helga Flatland, Karl Ove Knausgård at Black Bear in Brooklyn.
Morgenbladet’s Culture Editor Ane Farsethås, together with James Wood from The New Yorker and Lorin Stein from The Paris Review, will host the book forum.
NORLA is also arranging an book trade meeting Thursday 19 May for American publishers and Norwegian publishers and agents in collaboration with Norway’s Consulate General in New York. Participating is also Karl Ove Knausgård, Åsne Seierstad og Morgenbladet’s Culture Editor Ane Farsethås.

The Scandinavian School and Culture Centre in Moscow holds an annual Norway-Day. On May 14 the author Nina E. Grøntvedt will present her books.
