Staff Changes at NORLA
The new year has seen some changes among NORLA’s staff.

Mette Børja has taken up a newly established position as Senior Adviser for NORLA’s Translator Program. Translators and their work are essential to ensuring that Norwegian literature can travel across borders. In today’s technological landscape, it is more important than ever to safeguard the human translator. We at NORLA therefore believe it is right to consolidate responsibility for our many translator-related activities into one single position.
Mette will coordinate and implement programs for activities and professional development for translators, organise seminars and meeting places, and administer the Translator’s Hotel and study visits for translators. She will also develop recruitment initiatives in cooperation with partners abroad, such as universities offering Norwegian studies. In addition, she will oversee other translator-related initiatives, including translator awards.
Agata Kazmierczak has been appointed to a permanent position as Producer at NORLA. She will continue to hold operational responsibility for the implementation of events and projects related to our strategic initiatives. She will also retain responsibility for visual design across all our projects highlighting Norwegian literature. In addition, Agata will plan and manage budgets for various activities, ensure contracts and regulatory compliance, and maintain extensive contact with partners and suppliers in Norway and abroad.
Our former intern, Karla Kabot, continues as a part-time Office Assistant until the end of March 2026. She will primarily assist with grant applications and travel administration related to the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.
