Jostein Gaarder
In 1991, Jostein Gaarder wrote a book about the history of philosophy and thought it would appeal only to a few. In 1995, Sophie’s World was the most sold novel in the world. To date, Sophie’s World has been translated into 64 languages and has sold over 50 million copies, including Arabic, available from the publishing house Dar Al Muna. Jostein Gaarder’s other works, both his children’s books and adult novels, such as The Solitaire Mystery, Through a Glass, Darkly, Vita Brevis, The Ringmaster’s Daughter, The Orange Girl, Anna. A Fable About the Earth’s Climate and Environment, and The Puppeteer, have proved hugely popular and been published around the world. Throughout his career, Gaarder has been concerned with humanity’s responsibility towards nature and the environment, which is noticeable in a number of his books.
At the book fair, Gaarder will be meeting Nadia Elmasry and Nardon Al Atrouzy, representatives of Egyptian children’s literature, to speak about children’s literature, climate change and environmental protection.
