Mohammad Habeeb
Mohammad Habeeb is a translator, working with translations from Norwegian and English to Arabic. He is originally from Syria, where he used to be an English teacher, but has lived in Stavanger, Norway, since 2015. Among his translations from Norwegian to Arabic we find several plays by the famous playwright Jon Fosse, who was recently awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature 2023.
At the book fair, Mohammad Habeeb will be speaking to Marwan Aswan about the challenges of translating specific landscapes from one language to another, and the way in which nature and language are intertwined. He will also be speaking about Jon Fosse’s plays in Arabic, as a taster for those curious about Norway’s fourth author ever to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.
