Activities in 2024
The planning for Norway as Guest of Honour at the 2025 Leipzig Book Fair is well underway. At this year’s book fair, several Norwegian authors met their German readers. And this autumn we are especially excited about authors from both languages meeting each other under the headline “On the Way to Leipzig”, in Stavanger.
During the literature festival Kapittel in Stavanger, which took place September 19 – 22, the German-Norwegian program series titled Auf dem Weg nach Leipzig (On the Way to Leipzig) was presented. This was a festival within the festival, organized by Kapittel in collaboration with the Norwegian-German Willy Brandt Foundation and the Goethe-Institut, with NORLA as partner.
The aim was to introduce German literature to Norwegian readers and foster discussions about literature and current societal issues in Norway and Germany/Switzerland/Austria through meetings between Norwegian and German authors. In the author conversations, German-speaking authors met their Norwegian colleagues, such as Judith Hermann / Monika Isakstuen, Christoph Ransmayr / Erik Fosnes Hansen, and Simon Strauss / Simon Stranger.
