Bjørn Sortland

Bjørn Sortland is an author, journalist, script writer and professor of writing. Sortland has written 60 fiction books in different genres, mainly for children and young people, but also several books for adults. His books have been translated and published in 24 countries, amongst them France, Hungary, South Korea, China, USA, Sweden, Turkey and Palestine. His authorship has won him a variety of awards, such as Ark’s Children’s Books Prize (2009) and The Aschehoug Prize (2011). Sortland has also written scripts for feature films, short films and theatre, as well as book reviews and articles for newspapers and journals. He has teaching experience from universities and colleges in Norway and abroad, and he has held lectures and writing courses across the country.

At the book fair, Sortland will be reading from his title Johnny 777, together with the Director of the Norwegian Institute for Children’s Books, Nisrin Maktabu-Barkouki.
