Ongoing projects

Cairo Book Fair 2024
Norway will be Guest of Honour at the Cairo International Book Fair in 2024. We look forward to presenting a broad and attractive programme, targeting both a general audience and the book industry.

Leipzig Book Fair 2025
Norway has been offered the opportunity to be Guest of Honour at Leipzig Book Fair 2025. This is a golden chance for Norwegian literature in its breadth to reach German readers.

Bologna Children's Book Fair 2026
Norway will be the Guest of Honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2026 – the world’s most important book fair for children’s literature.

NORLA's Translator's Award
NORLA awards annually a prize to the value of 20 000 Norwegian kroner to a talented emerging translator who has contributed significantly to the translation of Norwegian literature into foreign languages, as well as to the promotion of Norwegian literature abroad. NORLA’s Translator’s Award is given for translations directly from Norwegian.

Poem of the Week. 52 poems through the year
In 2019, NORLA launched the project, Poem of the Week, 52 poems throughout the year, in connection with Norway being Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse. We are now continuing our focus on poetry with a new series, Poem of the Week, which, as it did last time, follows a narrative linked to the seasons. The selection is made by Annette Vonberg.
Recent Projects

Warsaw 2022
Norway was Guest of Honour at the Book Fair in Warsaw on 26 – 29 May 2022. The book fair took place at the Palace of Culture and is the most important book fair in Poland. According to estimates, the Fair was visited by approximately 90,000 people, a new record.

Frankfurt 2019
Norway was Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2019.
The Guest of Honour project comprised hundreds of activities in the German speaking area throughout 2019, and culminated at the book fair in October 2019.
