Nisrin Maktabi-Barkouki
Nisrin Maktabi-Barkouki is the Director of the Norwegian Institute of Children’s Books.
She has a background in business administration and management. She has previously worked as Library Manager for the Deichman libraries and had several other managerial positions. She also has experience from positions as Senior Adviser at the National Library of Norway and as Special Consultant at the Multilingual Library. From Beirut, she has worked in both banking and the hotel industry.
Originally from Lebanon and Iran, she is fluent in Arabic, French and English as well as in Norwegian and German.
Maktabi-Barkouki will be doing several readings in Arabic with Norwegian authors in addition to serving as a moderator in several of the panel discussions.
