On November 18, The Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai and NORLA host a seminar for Chinese publishers and translators, where invited Norwegian authors, illustrators and literary agents will participate digitally.

Translator Shubo Li will give an introduction about her translation of Inger Hagerup’s collection of children’s poems So Strange and give an introduction to Norwegian literature for young readers. From Norway, authors/illustrators Ole Kristian Løyning, Rebecca Wexelsen, Ella Okstad, Neda Alaei and Lars Henrik Eriksen will participate. Andrine Pollen from NORLA will moderate a conversation with the Norwegian participants.
The seminar will be held even though the CCBF, China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair is postponed from 19-21 November to March 20-22, 2022, due to the pandemic.
NORLA will participate at the book fair with a stand staffed by the Consulate General.

NORLA is looking forward to gathering ten translators of Norwegian literature in Lillehammer on June 2-5, as we do annually for the Norwegian Festival of Literature / Sigrid Undset Days.
This year’s festival- and program theme is Europe, and festival runs from June 1 through June 7.
The participants will also be meeting Agnes Ravatn, as well as having a translation workshop based on an excerpt from her novel Doggerland, which is among NORLA’s Selected Spring titles.
NORLA has the pleasure of inviting foreign publishers and editors of non-ficiton literature to apply for our fellowship program, which this year will take place in Oslo from June 16 – 19.
