Plectrums in their pockets

Med plekter i lomma

They’ve got to find the perfect band name.

Really hit those strings. Get it right. At least that’s how Juni sees it as we follow her and the band in smalltown Bragenes in Norway. Three boys and two girls – of whom Juni shows particular talent. She’s been playing since she was quite small. Plectrums in Their Pockets is a hard-nosed portrait of someone who has the will and the ability, but who nevertheless isn’t quite sure if she’s found a secure foothold in her circle of friends, her family or in her music.

Gyldendal 2008

Knutsen´s first novel for teenagers, “November Light”, was published in 1994. As well as books she writes articles, songs and music. She has also composed songs and music to other people’s words.

“Black Wings” (2007) received excellent reviews:
“Is she going for the piano or the university? What is described in this novel is really how talent is strangled by ignorance and jealosy, and the price one has to pay when choosing to be different.”
