Brown (Brune) was published in 2013 to great critical acclaim. It was awarded a number of prestigious prizes abroad and in Norway: the Nordic Council Literature Prize for Children and Young Adults 2014, The Dutch Zilveren Griffel (Silver Pen) 2015, The German Luchs des Jahres (Best Children and YA Book) 2016, the Norwegian Ministry of Culture’s Literature Prize 2013 (Best Children’s and Young Adults Book) and the Trollkrittet Prize 2013 (Norwegian children’s/YA book writers’ debut prize).
The book was also nominated for the Brage Prize for Children and Young Adults 2013. The translation rights of Brown is sold to 30 languages.

In 2015 came the sequel Black (Svartle), and in 2018 the last book in the trilogy, Blue (Blåse).

Håkon Øvreås (b. 1974) has previously published three books of poetry. Brown (2013) was his first children’s book and has been awarded several national and international literary awards.

Øyvind Torseter (b. 1972) made his debut as an illustrator in 1999 and illustrates his own texts as well as other authors’ texts. He has received The Ministry of Education’s Prize and Grafill’s ‘Most Beautiful Book of the Year’-Award several times. He has also been awarded the international children’s book prize Bologna Ragazzi and the Deutscher Jugenliteraturpreis.
