The Code Book. Secret Alphabets, unbreakable Codes and invisible Writing

Kodeboka. Hemmelige alfabeter, uknekkelige koder og usynlig skrift

Have you ever sent a secret message to a friend? Replaced letters with numbers, or maybe with your own symbols? Then you know what codes are, and this book is full of them! You will learn how to encode your messages in ingenious ways, hide your messages from unauthorized people, or even make them completely invisible.

This is also a journey through history’s most exciting code adventure. You will learn how the Rosetta Stone was the key to the secrets of hieroglyphs. You will get to know the Enigma machine and meet the codebreakers who changed the course of the war. In the book you will also be encouraged to be a codebreaker yourself. There are even some real unsolved mysteries you can try to solve.

‘The author takes children and young people’s desire to share secrets seriously and explains coding systems in a way that is both understandable and challenging. With precise and vivid language, and Anders Bergesen’s playful illustrations in soft colors, a complex topic is conveyed with infectious enthusiasm. The Code Book is knowledgeable and inspiring – a book that sharpens the brain and invites you to play with language and logic.’
