Yohan the Child Wanderer

The book is based on a family film, and we follow Yohan, forced to leave his family and walk to another village to find work. The book is interspersed with stunning pictures from the film and tells the powerful story of reality for many poor children in the 1800s.

Ten year old Yohan meets many types of hardships, but overcomes all through hard work and cleverness. While trying to protect the animals he is looking after at the farm, he encounters both bears and wolves. Along his journey he also meets people, both good and bad. He defies all challenges met during the summer, and is, against all odds, reunited with his family in the autumn.
