Pery and Pety turn back

Peri og Peti vender om

A simple book about big things.

Pery and Pety are two small friends who venture out into the world to experience the sights and sounds it has to offer. But things soon turn scary and then it´s a matter of beating a hasty retreat!

The author´s wish was to breathe fresh life into the picture book, to construct a story for infants that could also comprise challenges and references of interest to adults. In Aristotelian poetics, a perypety is the turning point in a tragedy or tale. At the place in the story where Pery and Pety have to turn back, they meet a wall with large, menacing figures that don´t look very friendly. They turn and run back home, richer (and more feathery) for the experience. Many references lie hidden between the buttons and sequins of the book.

Helga Gunerius Eriksen has written, embroidered and sewn a little story about the big things that happen to Pery and Pety. The result is a pearl of a picture book that is a joy for both children and parents alike.
