Would you like to get to know the arctic fox?
The arctic fox has lived in Scandinavia longer than us humans. It is perfectly adapted to live where it is cold and there is hardly anything to eat. There used to be thousands of arctic foxes in the Scandinavian mountains, but now there are only about a few hundreds left.

In this book you can follow the arctic fox through a whole year. You will learn about the place where they live, and the challenges it faces. The arctic fox in Scandinavia is at risk of disappearing altogether. You will learn about what we humans are doing to try and save it.

Meet the Arctic Fox is an illustrated picture book, suitable for children aged 5 to 10 years. The book has two parts; the first part is full illustrated with easy to read text, while the last part is a factual text with details on both the arctic fox and conservation of species in general.

The book is fully illustrated by Inger Lise Belsvik.

NINA E. EIDE is working as a scientist at the Norwegian Institute of Nature Research (NINA). She has been working with the arctic fox for almost 20 years, and since 2004 with conservation of the arctic fox in Scandinavia. This is her first book for children. She is however an experienced communicator of science to the public audience.

TERJE BORG (1956-2013) was a skilled and versatile writer who authored text spanning from designing splendid commercials, journalist articles, debate texts to poetry. This is his second book for children.

CAMILLA NÆSS is working as a science communicator at the NINA, where she eagerly communicates research and nature values to diverse audiences and in various media and platforms.

INGER LISE BELSVIK is educated at Kingston University, England and at SHKS in Oslo. During a 20 year long career, she has illustrated more than 30 picture books, poetry books and science books for children. She is also the author of one children’s book. She has received the Norwegian Department of Culture’s Illustrator prize twice for her work and several prizes in the annual contest “The most beautiful books of the year”. Her work has also been shown at a number of exhibitions over the years. Belsvik gives lectures and workshops in illustration, both for adults and children.
