Out In The Dark

Ut i mørket

It’s autumn and nearly Halloween. Bendik is sulking because he has to be home by 8 o’clock even though they’re going to go trick-or-treating – and because he has to look after his little brother, as well. Maria isn’t the slightest bit interested in going trick-or-treating, she’s finally going to visit mum in hospital! But then she can’t go anyway. When Bendik sees how upset Maria is, he quickly makes a decision. “We can all go trick-or-treating this evening,” he says. So it ends with those two, along with Klaus, Bendik’s little brother, and Maria’s dog, Balder, going together. Not exactly what they had in mind, perhaps, but at least it won’t be the worst Halloween.

Sverre Henmo has a university degree in sociology and lives in Oslo. He made his literary début in 1999 with Sammen er vi én og én (Together We are One and One). Since then he has written two novels, two novels for youth and four children’s books.
