Competition Winners Announced

As Norway was Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2019, we decided to include all fields and actors of the book industry in Germany – including a group which is both dear and important to us: The Book Sellers. Among the initiatives we arranged, was a book store window competition. Book stores from all over Germany were encouraged to design windows promoting Norwegian authors and books.

15 different bookstores took part in the Store Window Competiton. We received many impressive and creative submissions. The jury consisted of Cultural Journalist Thomas Böhm, Aslaug Nygård, Botschaftsrätin für Presse, Kultur und Information, Norwegische Botschaft Berlin and Lothar Sand, Leiter der Leseförderung, Börsenverein Des Deutschen Buchhandels E.V.
The members of the jury unanimously declared a winner: Barbaras Bücherstube in Moosburg!

Due to the pandemic, the awarding of the prize was put on hold. At NORLA’s recent Book trade meeting in Munich we were finally able to hand out the prize and thereby give our warmest congratulations to Simone Biberacher and Gabriele Kellner!

We look forward to welcoming them both to Norway, where they will enjoy a one-week stay at a Thon Hotel of their own wish. The prize is courtesy of Thon Hotels, one of the main sponsors of Norway as Guest of Honour at the Frankfurter Buchmesse in 2019. The travel costs will be covered by NORLA.
