Poem of the Week, week 16: Gro Dahle "On The Really Bad Days"
Enjoy a weekly poem by authors from Norway, throughout the year.
ON THE REALLY BAD DAYS
On the really bad days I unfold a seagull between
my arms. Furl out wings of gray-white sails and
replace my thoughts with clouds. And all drags towards the sea.
All rushes into the great winds across the Atlantic
where the warm air and the cold air switch places. Somewhere out there
I’ll turn around and come back with the sea in tow.
Translated by Rebecca Wadlinger
From A Hundred Thousand Hours, Ugly Duckling Presse, Brooklyn, New York, 2013, p. 163.
