Poem of the Week, week 26: Ruth Lillegraven "Mother and Father"
Enjoy a weekly poem by authors from Norway, throughout the year.
MOTHER AND FATHER
my mother
is melting-sun
and buttercup
my father is old-spruce
and soar-eagle
swings sickle
and dries hay
sharpens scythe
and turns earth
this must you do
this must you be
he says
only this way
can rock and waves
and mount and shore
still be ours
still be
you and me
Translated by May-Brit Akerholt, Sickle, Seagull Press, 2019
