In Everything I Fear Has Already Happened, the narrator, a woman in her late sixties, is trying to rebuild her life after her husband leaves her. Everything that’s been so certain in her life – work, love, and family – is no longer there. From thinking that nature is a waste of beauty for a dead soul, she is persuaded to create profiles on several dating apps. She can’t bear the thought of living the rest of her life without someone to sleep beside.

The narrator’s encounter with the so-called “market value” for a mature woman in contemporary society’s biggest commercial arena for sex and love is brutal, but it also allows for comedic and outrageous experiences. The uncertain time horizon ahead sharpens her awareness of the world and people around her and offers her an acute understanding of what is truly meaningful.

Everything I Fear Has Already Happened is a story about aging, about the art of being abandoned and abandoning. A novel about exploring echoes of the past and repetitions in the fabric of life that can be shattered, igniting a profound zest for life. The novel is about sex for a woman in the later stages of life and possibilities for love and community.
