Translators are absolutely key to spreading Norwegian literature around the world. Their work is of vital importance and to showcase this work in 2015 we started the interview series «Translator of the Month». Here we become better acquainted with translators from the Norwegian language and their challenging work, which introduces Norwegian literature to all the different languages of the world.
In 2020 our series of interviews became a translator relay, where each translator passes the baton and a question on to a colleague. We are thrilled to continue our interviews with translators of Norwegian literature into a myriad of languages.

Our Translator of the Month for October is Giovanna Paterniti from Italy. She holds a Master’s degree in Scandinavian Language and Literature from Università Statale di Milano, where she later worked for ten years as a lecturer in the subjects Translation Theory and Practice from the Scandinavian Languages and Scandinavian Linguistics.
For more than twenty years, Giovanna has dedicated herself to translating and promoting contemporary Norwegian literature. Among the authors she has translated are Lars Saabye Christensen, Axel Hellstenius, Jostein Gaarder, Erlend Loe, Åsne Seierstad, Kjell Ola Dahl, Maja Lunde, and Aslak Nore.

NORLA’s Translator’s Award was presented for the twentieth time during a seminar 17–19 October, which was organized by the The Norwegian Association of Literary Translators and took place just outside of Oslo. The 2025 award goes to Ana Flecha Marco for her outstanding work in translating Norwegian fiction into Spanish. Congratulations!

We are happy to offer insightful interviews with the authors and illustrators of our 26 Selected Titles of the autumn.
We invite you to get better aquainted with the books and also the people who wrote and illustrated them!

We at NORLA are both proud and delighted to present our Selected Titles for the Autumn:
26 wonderful books which are divided into fiction and non-fiction, for both adults, children and young adults.
