NORLA at the Beijing Book Fair, 24−28 August
This year we are also looking forward to attending the book fair in Beijing, in collaboration with our sister organizations from Sweden, Denmark and Finland (NordLit).
Like last year, NordLit is also preparing a seminar in conjunction with the fair dedicated to translators into Chinese from the respective languages. The author Endre Lund Eriksen will take part in the seminar and will also be presenting a separate programme of readings in the course of the week.

Application deadline for sample translation of Norwegian literature: 01 September
Publishers, agents and translators abroad and in Norway can apply to NORLA for subsidies for sample translations.
The translation must be directly from Norwegian. Sample translations of NORLA’s selected titles- will be given priority.

Fifth season of NORLA’s translators hotel, 5-18 September
At NORLA we are pleased about the overwhelming response to our offer of stays at the translators hotel for translators who translate directly from Norwegian. This autumn four lucky applicants will be awarded two-week stays simultaneously in Oslo at Hotell Bondeheimen.
This will be the translators hotel’s fifth season. You can read some of the fantastic feedback on previous seasons here.

NORLA to attend the Göteborg book fair, 24–27 September

Awarding of NORLA’s Translator’s Award, 29 September
During the celebration in Oslo of St. Hieronymus Day, International Translation Day, we will announce the winner of NORLA’s Translator’s Award. The award will be conferred for the 11th time this year and will go to a non-fiction translator.

NORLA to attend Frankfurt Book Fair, 19-23 October
NORLA will also be taking part in the Frankfurt book fair. This year, for the first time, all Norwegian exhibitors will be representing from a national collective stand. We look forward to welcoming all our contacts, old and new!

Translators seminar in Helsinki, 27-30 October
The Nordic countries are in focus at this year’s Helsinki Book fair, and numerous Nordic authors will take part in the fair’s program.
Along with our Nordic colleagues, NORLA will host a translators seminar on children’s and young adult literature.
The seminar has received funding from the Nordic Council of Ministers.

NORLA to attend Shanghai Book Fair, 18-20 November
NORLA will once again take part in the book fair in Shanghai, which in its entirety is dedicated to literature for children and young people. Last year’s attendance resulted in massive interest in Norwegian authors and books and also many foreign right sales (read more).

NORLA will also be taking part this year in the Non/fiction-book fair in Moscow.

NORLA to attend book fair in Guadalajara, Mexico, 28-30 November
The book fair in Guadalajara is the largest in the Spanish speaking world − and on the whole, one of the most pleasantly enjoyable fairs. NORLA will take part in the Guadalajara International Book Fair, as we have done the past two years, along with some of our Nordic sister organizations.

This year, two Norwegian authors will also be joining us in Guadalajara: Simon Stranger and Carl-Frode Tiller. Stranger’s novel for adolescents Barsakh will be published by the Mexican publisher Nostra Ediciones / Panorama Editoria, translated by Pablo Osorio, and the first volume of Tiller’s Innsirkling (Encirclement) will be published by the Spanish publisher Sajalín Editores S.L, translated by Cristina Gómez Baggethun.
Aschehoug Agency will also be taking part in the fair and will have a table at the foreign rights centre.
