On Tuesday, 05 December, a book trade meeting for Swedish publishers will be held at the Norwegian embassy in Stockholm. The focus will be on children’s books.

Librarian Siri Odfjell Risdal from the House of Culture Sølvberget in Stavanger will give an introduction to contemporary Norwegian children’s and young adult literature, and as many as five Norwegian children’s books authors will participate: Constance Ørbeck-Nilssen, Elisabeth Helland Larsen, Ingunn Thon, Erna Osland and Sigbjørn Mostue will all be presenting relevant titles. Norwegian agents will also be present to inform more about these and other books relevant for Swedish publishers.

We are very pleased that Norway will be the Guest of Honour at the world’s largest children’s and young adult book fair, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, in 2026. Norwegian children’s and young adult literature is rich in both expression and genres and addresses a wide range of themes that engage readers of all ages. The Guest of Honour programme offers a unique opportunity to showcase this breadth and bring our stories to the world.
NORLA wishes to contribute to the recruitment of more translators of Norwegian literature. We invite interested candidates to apply for a seminar for new translators, to be held in Oslo from 22–25 April 2026.
