”The doctor had said there was nothing wrong with her. He´d taken her blood pressure, and a blood sample: a little prick in her ear lobe. When he went to sit down at his desk again, she got up from the examination couch. Suddenly, for a second, old doctor Wiik was upside down, and then he vanished. She opened her eyes; she was lying on the couch with Wiik looking impatiently down at her.”

Fie is seventeen and has got a place in a college of art and design. She is really gifted at drawing, but has little notion of the world, life in general and love. She´s also a lot younger than the others, some people in her class are even married.

Scheen depicts the life of a young woman in the early 1960s. Although the novel is entertaining and easy to read, there is a profound, touching story beneath its surface. Scheen has taken a courageous step in portraying an artist to be, her motivation, disquiet and angst.
