Travel grant for Norwegian agents and publishers
Professionals in Norway working with international rights sales of literature, can apply for grants for activities promoting the internationalization of Norwegian literature. The grant scheme does not include authors, as in, the writers themselves.
Purpose:
The activity is meant to help increase exports of Norwegian books.
Who can apply:
Professionals working with international rights sales of literature. Applicants must be registered with the Brønnøysund Register Centre.
What does the grant cover?
Travel expenses connected with visits to book fairs, festivals and other industry-specific meetings that promote Norwegian literary exports. The travelling and activities for which subsidies are granted must be new areas of commitment for applicants and go beyond one’s regular activities. The application can only include one activity/meeting per application.
The grant does not fully fund projects. Applications must be made for specific expenses only.
Application deadlines:
The 1st of each month.
Applications must be submitted at least one month before the activity is to take place. All applications are processed in monthly meetings.
How to apply:
Applications must be submitted to NORLA via firmapost@norla.no, along with the following attachments:
• Project description according to NORLA’s template (which can be downloaded below) detailing information about the purpose of the travel and reason for the applicant’s innovative activity or new area of commitment. Only describe the project related to the grant you are applying for. Priority will be given to applicants who can display a long-term strategy for their foreign investment.
• A complete budget (template can be downloaded below) for the activity, stating the amount applied for and what financing the applicant is offering themselves.
Annual budget:
150,000 Norwegian kroner (NOK).
Processing of applications:
Grants are paid in full to the applicant after an invoice has been sent.
If the amount has been transferred and the project however does not take place, the recipient of the grant is obliged to immediately notify NORLA and return the amount received in full. If the awarded grant has not been fully used, the surplus amount must be returned. The recipient of the grant must disclose this in their report.
The decision about the grant is made by NORLA’s expert committee, whose members are Andrine Pollen, Oliver Møystad and Tanja Feodoritova. When necessary, the expert committee can obtain external expertise.
Reporting:
The applicant is obliged to submit a report following the activity, and no later than two months after it ends. The report template can be downloaded below. The report should cover aspects such as implementation, results and goals achieved.
Applications can be rejected if reports from previously granted subsidies have not been received within the deadline.
