NORLA receives 5 million NOK for the Guest of Honour initiative at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026

NORLA offers a number of application-based schemes that promote Norwegian literature on the international market.

For translators

Do you translate from Norwegian to another language? Here you can find a number of grant schemes, for both direct translations and skills development for translators.

For agents and publishers

Do you represent one or more authors from Norway? Both Norwegian agents and foreign publishers can apply for our grant schemes.

Are you organising a literature festival or conference abroad? If so you can apply for a grant to invite Norwegian authors and lecturers from Norway to your events. This also applies to universities that teach Norwegian subjects.

NORLA at the Gothenburg Book Fair

This year’s Gothenburg Book Fair takes place on September 25–29, with drama as one of its main focuses. The Norwegian Centre for New Playwriting – NCNP (Dramatikkens hus) will be participating, hosting an exciting program of Norwegian events. Application deadline: Translation subsidy and Production subsidy

Please note that there are new application deadlines in 2025, with three deadlines in total, for Norwegian books in all genres:
1 February, 1 June and 1 October.
