Our Translator of the Month for December is Riina Hanso, who translates into Estonian. She has translated books within various genres: fiction, drama, crime, non-fiction and books for children and young adults, and by doing so has become “acquainted” with authors such as Henrik Ibsen, Roy Jacobsen, Merethe Lindstrøm, Jo Nesbø and Maria Parr. If there is one genre she wants to translate more of, it is definitely children’s books. And maybe poetry, in collaboration with someone.
Below we are offering a selection of links to websites both with samples of and about Norwegian literature in different languages.
Links to websites in Norwegian may be found here.
If you have any tips on other useful pages, we would very much appreciate hearing from you.

Our Translator of the Month for November is Outi Menna from Finland. Since 1998, she has translated over 200 books from Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish into Finnish – mainly adult fiction, but also books for children and young adults.
Outi holds a Master’s degree in Nordic languages and literature from the University of Helsinki and has been working as a literary translator since her student days.

From March 26 to 30, 2025, Norway will be the Guest of Honour at Leipziger Buchmesse, Germany’s largest public book fair.
Over the course of four days, NORLA will fill stages at the Leipzig Messe, and in the city itself, with a rich and varied program, where Norwegian authors and literature will have the leading role. Nearly 40 authors have accepted the invitation to participate in Leipzig, including prominent names like Vigdis Hjorth, Johan Harstad, Karl Ove Knausgård, Anna Fiske, Trude Teige, and Kristin Valla. These authors represent literature for both adults and children, in all genres.
