We are happy to present our selected title author Annika Linn Verdal Homme. She has written Lava. The story of how everything that once felt solid suddenly became fluid (original title: Lava. Historien om hvordan alt som var fast, plutselig ble flytende). The book is one of NORLA’s Selected Titles of the autumn 2025.

In April 2026, Norway will be Guest of Honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the world’s largest book fair dedicated to children’s and young adult literature. The Guest of Honour project offers a unique opportunity to showcase Norwegian literature for young readers and to highlight the high artistic quality of illustration from Norway.

The illustration exhibition will cover approximately 330 m², located prominently at the fairgrounds.

Sabine Richter translates fiction and non-fiction from Norwegian to German. She is originally from East Germany, but has lived and worked for very many years in Norway, as well as the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Spain and Iran. Sabine now lives in beautiful Vienna, but commutes to both Oslo and Madrid.

Her most recent translation work are two novels by Kjersti Anfinnsen, De siste kjærtegn and Øyeblikk for evigheten, which were published as one volume in January 2025: Letzte zärtliche Augenblicke (Septime Verlag).

NORLA’s translation subsidies are intended to encourage foreign publishers to publish books by Norwegian and Sami authors of fiction and non-fiction. Publishers from the entire world, including from the Nordic region, can apply for NORLA’s subsidies for translations of Norwegian literature.
