Authors’ Reading Month is a large-scale traveling festival which runs for 31 days from July 1. The project is a collaboration between literature offices in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
This year, 31 Norwegian authors have been invited to participate consecutively in the festival.
The authors will be touring four cities; Brno and Ostrava in the Czech Republic, and Bratislava and Kosice in Slovakia, and will also participate digitally in Lviv, Ukraine.
The authors will appear along with one local author (Czech or Slovak) and travel from city to city.
26-28 June 2023, NORLA is hosting a large-scale conference for translators of literature from Norway, at Lily Country Club, Kløfta.
For the first time, translators who wish to participate in the conference have be invited to apply. The deadline was 28 November and all applicants will receive response in early January.
We will invite 150 translators who will be chosen to reflect the position and dissemination of literature from Norway in the different language markets, and also contribute to the recruitment of new translators of Norwegian literature.
The conference is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Their Majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja will be travelling to Denmark on an official visit between 15th and 16th of June. During their stay they will be visiting the literature festival LiteratureXchange in Århus.

To follow up last year’s major commitment towards the Polish book market, NORLA will be attending the Book Fair in Warsaw between 25-29th of May.
Roy Jacobsen and Anneliese Pitz will also be taking part, presenting the Polish translation of their novel The Man Who Loved Siberia.
There will be a Norwegian stand at the fair organised by NORLA. You will find us in Sala Mamurowa in the Cultural Palace on stand 121. Here you will amongst other things find a reading area where we will be reading Norwegian books in Polish translation. There will also be an express Norwegian course for those of you who want to learn some Norwegian.

Norway will be Guest of Honour at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in 2026. Please join us for the Opening Conference at the Norwegian Festival of Literature in May.

As part of the preparation for Norway to be Guest of Honour at the Cairo Book Fair in 2024, NORLA is organising a seminar on Arabic translation on Thursday 11th of May. We are particularly interested in getting across to those who are already translating from Norwegian to Arabic, or those who would like to start. There are already a substantial amount of Norwegian literature in Arabic, but we need more translators!
We encourage everyone who would be interested to please get in touch.
Time: Thursday 11th of May. Talk and workshop from 2 pm to 6.30 pm, followed by dinner.
Place: Fritt Ord’s premises, Uranienborgveien 2.
On Tuesday 9th of May, NORLA and the Norwegian Embassy in den Haag are organising a seminar for dutch publishers on current Norwegian fiction. NORLA’s Selected Titles will be presented by NORLA’s representative and dutch translators, followed by speed-dating with the publishers. The seminar will be concluded with a lunch.
